OUR HISTORY Developed on the fabled salmon and trout in Northern Maine Lake Mooselookmeguntic from where it takes its’ name. The Mooselook wobbler is a trout and salmon favourite. Equally as effective on a variety of other species, spoon feed them with Mooselook. The Mooselook wobbler got its start in the mid 1930’s. John Greene (Selinski), an insurance sales representative  and his wife Annie, also an accomplished angler developed the lure on their favourite lake in Maine Mooselookmeguntic. Local lore had it that John changed his name to Greene, to avoid confusion as there was another insurance salesman in the region of the same family name. Thus was born the J.A. Greene Company that manufactured the Mooselook Wobbler. John ran the company until 1958 when his health failed and his ½ brother Mike Yerka came into the business to help him run it with his Johns wife Annie. In 1960 John passed away and Mike took over the running of the company for Annie with the help of his brother Joe. Joe was very active in the community and organisations that promoted the outdoors. NEOWA, The New England Outdoor Writers Association still to this day presents a bursary in his name to a student studying in the outdoors field. Aptly named the Joe Yerka writing award. In 1962 Annie passed away and Joe & Mike continued on with the business. They ran it together for the next 30 years until Joe passed away in 1994 and Mike took over the company. Longevity ran in the family and Mike continued on with the company until he sold it to Brecks in 2002, at the age of 85. The claim to fame of the J.A. Greene Company was always the Mooselook wobbler. A trout and salmon classic throughout the North east and eastern Canada and arguably the favourite trout and salmon spoon in the state of Maine. The top producing pattern in Maine is copper and always has been. The selection has evolved over the years to include additional sizes, styles and colours. Finishes have been improved upon, now including genuine silver and 24 carat gold. What have not changed are the precise shape, size, curvature and weight of the original Mooselook. Stamped in premium polished brass, it will not rust. They are plated with a proprietary multi step plating process and include airbrush painted finishes.
North American made by anglers for anglers since 1938.
